Workers in education and training, sales and services remain the worst affected. 2,267 newly unemployed people registered with employment service in the past 24 hours. 180,471 job seekers have been registered since the start of the third lockdown, of whom 137,844, 76.4% of the total, were people who took unpaid leave. Of those who logged in in the past 24 hours, 1045, or 46.1%, were laid off from their jobs. These numbers align with the trend we’ve seen over the past few weeks, and most clearly since the start of February, regarding the proportion of people on unpaid leave in relation to those who have been laid off or quit their jobs. The groups mainly affected by the lockdown continue to work in education and training (25.3% of those registered as unemployed since the lockdown began, and 35.4% since the lockdown was tightened) and in sales and services (14.4% of those registered as unemployed) since the start of the lockdown, and 7.5% since lockdown tightened).
