Consistency is very important in head-to-head fantasy football leagues, yet very few fantasy owners attempt to include it in their rankings or decision making on draft day. If you’ve been playing with fantasy for any length of time, you know how frustrating it is to have your quarterback score more than 30 points in a week and 10 in the following week. How many times have you been among the teams that scored the most goals in the league but missed the playoffs by one or two games? Many will call it “bad luck,” and that’s partly true. Injuries to key players, inclement weather, and challenging matches are all variables that can negatively affect fantasy teams. You can only do so much to control or combat them. However, there is one aspect of fantasy football that you have some influence on – the consistency of your team. The Tools section of BigGuyFantasySports.com contains a “clutch report” that will calculate the “clutch factor” (CF) that a player must pass each week to earn a “clutch game”. CF is based on the number of teams in your league and the method of scoring. For example, in the 12-team PPR format, a run must earn more than 11 fantasy points each week to earn a “clutch game.” Fantastic Standard Rankings for 2021: Midfielder | running backwards | wide receiver | narrow end | D/ST | kicker | Top 200 The more consistent a player is, the more valuable they are to their fantasy team. You can find out about player consistency on my website (BigGuyFantasySports.com). A player’s consistency rate is referred to as a “Clutch Rating (CR). A highly consistent fantasy player will have a CR over 70 percent. The fantasy world’s elite clumps are typically over 80-90 percent. 2021 PPR FANTASY RANKINGS: CM | RUNNING Back | Wide Future | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker | Top 200 Players Every year, I try to identify underrated players who may not rank highly in my fantasy overall score but have been very consistent and essential to the success of a fantasy team. In addition, I select players who are overrated based on their lack of consistency. Here’s the sneak peak in my consistency-based ratings for QBs as the 2021 season approaches.Running Back | Wide Future | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker | Overall 2021 Fantasy QB Consistency Ratings, Ranking, Sub-Class Ranking, Team Player 1 QB1 A Patrick Mahomes KC 2 QB1 B Josh Allen BUF 3 QB1 B Kyler Murray ARI 4 QB1 B Dak Prescott DAL 5 QB1 B Aaron Rodgers GB 6 QB1 B Lamar Jackson BAL 7 QB1 B Justin Herbert LAC 8 QB1 B Russell Wilson SEA 9 QB1 B Tom Brady TB 10 QB1 B Matthew Stafford LAR 11 QB1 B Ryan Tannehill TEN 12 QB1 B Joe Burrow CIN The QB1A rating means I expect this player to earn 80 percent or higher CR in 2021. Currently, Patrick Mahomes is rated Only at this level. All remaining 11 players are rated as QB1B. This means that I expect them to exceed a CR rate of 70 percent or higher. Josh Allen, Keeler Murray, Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers should cross 80 percent in 2021, but I think they’ll get close to 75 percent this year. The key is where you fall into your draft. If you can get any of these four after the fifth round, get them! If they go before that, wait and get one of the other seven quarterbacks, let’s take a look at two of these quarterbacks and see which of them are undervalued or overvalued based on ADPs.2021 FANTASY SLEEPERS: QUARTERPACK | running backwards | wide future | narrow end | D/ST | Every team is underrated: Tom Brady, the pirate alien life form that is Brady never again gets the same amount of love he should from the world of fantasy. All he did last season was seventh in points and tenth in consistency. Now, shake off the injuries and look at his consistency when Mike Evans and Chris Goodwin were on the field together at 75 percent, which would have ranked him third overall. He’s going into round seven now. So load up on your backs and receivers early and get Brady on round 7 or 8 and get the QB you don’t have to worry about. It was more like gloss and finger paint. The Dolphins let Ryan Fitzpatrick walk and gave the covenants to Tua for 2021. However, they also traded Deshaun Watson and signed Jacoby Brissett in an off-season. So, how long is the leash? The Dolphins signed Will Fuller V and drafted Jaylen Waddle, so the received wire is improved, but I’m not overly optimistic here. Tua is seen by many as a high-altitude backup, but its consistency numbers suggest it will be more like QB30.2021 FANTASY TIERS & DRAFT STRATEGY: CM | running backwards | wide future | narrow end | In short, consistency should be an important part of preparing an imaginative draft each year. It’s great to recruit players who earn a large number of total points, but if they don’t consistently do so, you may end up being less than 0.500. You can’t win the tournament if you don’t even take a post-season action.
