3 Israeli universities in Shanghai rank 100

Three Israeli universities have been ranked in the top 100 in the Shanghai Ranking – Academic Ranking of World Universities for the first time since 2013. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 90, with the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot ranked 92 and the Technion, the Israeli Institute of Technology in Haifa in Ranked 94. Tel Aviv University is ranked in division 150-200, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Bar-Ilan University is ranked in division 400-500, and Haifa University is in division 500-600. Harvard, Stanford and Cambridge universities are ranked as the top three universities in the world. Countries represented in the top 100 rankings included the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Japan and China in addition to Israel. The rankings were compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and are considered one of the most authoritative in the world. Israeli universities have fallen in rankings in recent years. In 2013, the Hebrew University ranked 59th, the Technion 77 and the Weizmann Institute ranked 93rd. But since then, many countries have invested heavily in academic education.
