There were some arguments about who would try
The latest version of the collection. Dana won. V2 has the same everyday styling as the original, just with a different variety of soups, including white beans, spinach, quinoa, and black beans.

Dana told us all about it. We have added V2 to your cart. We’ve collected her honest and helpful advice below. Her main food? The best thing you can do is not put off your life: “Burn yourself with the things that make you happy,” she says.

8 Prolon Strategies with a Triple Timer

1. Be honest with yourself about your health intentions and priorities. The first time around, I was interested in giving it a try because I felt like I desperately needed a reset. I wanted to set aside a seemingly reasonable amount of time to not eat and drink like crazy. I felt really good after it was over – I couldn’t believe how good it was. The second time around, I was excited to do it because I knew how it felt the first time. And I was just so miserable. I miss fresh food and flexibility, and the lack of both had a negative impact on my mental health – this was not the time for me. Okay! I’m a human.

This time, I knew I wanted a break from wine and eating out more than I wanted the freedom to eat and drink whatever I wanted. I longed for the reset, and so was my husband, who did it with me three times. (It totally helps when we’re on the same page.)

2. If you are going to experience caffeine withdrawal symptoms, you don’t have to suffer. According to the official ProLon ordinance, eight ounces of black coffee or sixteen ounces of green, white, or black tea are allowed every morning.

3. Do a little bit of movement if it’s something you usually crave and enjoy. One of the things that made my third experience with ProLon the best I had ever done was that I wasn’t afraid to do some light exercise. You have to be kind to yourself – definitely avoid anything too extreme. I did the easier twenty-minute peloton classes instead of the high-intensity forty-five-minute classes I was accustomed to. It helped me feel like I was still living my normal life, kept busy, and helped me relax.

4. Add spices. You can add up to 1 teaspoon of salt, herbs, and spices to the soup each day. Fresh black pepper was a game changer for me. Seasoning can make the soup more palatable if it’s not jam.

5. Make low-level plans if you can. In the past, I’d avoid social events: I felt like if I couldn’t eat or drink with friends, I wouldn’t have fun. In the past year, our plans with friends have mostly included taking our kids to parks, wearing masks, and not eating or drinking, which reminded me that it’s possible, easy, and fun to connect with people without fixing it around food or alcohol. Maintaining such plans with the people you love is another way to focus on things other than your diet. And while it may seem draining, it usually gives you energy back.

6. Plan to go to bed early — and choose a show to watch that doesn’t focus on food. I always go to bed earlier on ProLon than I normally do – it feels so normal because you ran out of steam so early. What my husband and I do is we watch Love Island in the UK (If you know, you know) because we both are obsessed with it and, in particular, this show doesn’t show up very often in people eating. You’ll never see their meals or what’s on their plates, and you won’t have to sit in a Domino’s Pizza commercial. It’s kind of unbelievable how you see or watch ads for food Great British BreadSuddenly you feel deprived even if you have never done so before.

7. It’s okay to be on the phone while you’re cooking your kids’ meals for a few days. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old girl, making food for them and not wanting to eat or eat a piece of mac n cheese is the hardest part of it all. But I figured out what works for us: During my ProLon days, I make them the things they love and don’t care about, like broccoli sticks. My winning strategy now is to stock healthy kids’ dinners at Whole Foods that are easy to prepare but appeal to me a little less than the adult-adjacent meals I cook for all of us, like salmon with rice and veggies.

The funny and unexpected thing is that my kids were jealous of the soup. But for obvious reasons, I wouldn’t feed them Prolon. So for several lunches this time around, I made them their very own tomato soup to eat with me.

8. Pay attention to what you actually want when it’s over. On day 6 this time, I woke up feeling really fresh and energetic. It was the day before Halloween, the diet was over, and my husband said, “Let’s take the kids to go see the Krispy Kreme cakes being made.” And I went to Krispy Kreme and didn’t have the slightest desire to eat fresh donuts off the line, a rarity for me. It was surprisingly easy to avoid sugar and alcohol in the following days. Not because I was exerting any kind of willpower but because I wasn’t interested in it.

Two days later, I had quite a bit of a drink, but I didn’t feel like eating that much. I just felt like eating clean. Every time I’ve done ProLon, the lasting benefit hasn’t been what happened in those five days. It was more about that resetting factor, the desire to eat mostly clean food afterwards. And that always stuck with me for a while.
