Apollo investment fund is considering buying the stake of Hutchison’s partner

Hong Kong-based Hutchison owns 27% of Israel’s Partner Communications. Investment fund Apollo is studying the possibility of buying Hong Kong-based Hutchison’s stake in Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR). The fund has been studying the deal for several months, and negotiations now appear to have made progress. Hutchison owns a 27% stake in Partner. The trustee owns the shares, due to the difficulty of granting a control permit to a Chinese company in an Israeli telecom company, due to the US veto. Hutchison received the shares in the partner when Chaim Saban, the company’s former controlling shareholder, returned it to it, after requesting payment of $300 million in connection with a loan he took from Hutchison to finance the transaction in which Hutchison’s bought a stake in a partner.
