Arsenal have reportedly made a new offer for Lyon star Houssem El Aawar. Arsenal have had a long-standing interest in the midfielder and are keen to land him this summer. According to le10Sport, Arsenal have now made a new offer for the French player. The North London giants tried to sign the player last summer but were only willing to offer €35m for his services. Lyon quickly turned down the offer because they were looking for an offer in the region worth €60m. However, the poor financial situation of Ligue 1 club at the moment could force them to sell Houssem El Aouar for less than 25 million euros this summer, as Houssem El Aouar had a good season with Lyon 2020-21, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 33 Matches in all competitions. He led the club to fourth place in the French Ligue 1. However, the midfielder narrowly lost a place in Didier Deschamps’ squad in France for Euro 2020 this summer. Arsenal president Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a high-quality midfielder to partner Thomas Partey in the center of the park for the upcoming campaign. The team suffered from a lack of goals and creativity from the midfield last season. Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have also returned to Real Madrid after their loan deals with Arsenal expired. Therefore, Mikel Arteta has prioritized the signing of a creative midfielder this summer. Houssam Al-Awar’s pass, vision and eye on goal makes him an ideal player for Arsenal.
