These Romano Chicken Meatballs take all the classic Italian flavors with Chicken Romano and stuff them into meatballs. Meatballs are served in a light lemon sauce that is great over pasta. What is Romano Chicken?

Chicken Romano is an Italian baked chicken dish topped with Romano cheese – breadcrumbs. Often it is served with a lemon-butter sauce over pasta.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make these delicious Romano Chicken Meatballs.

  • Meat: Chopped chicken
  • Binder: eggs, breadcrumbs
  • flavor: garlic, romano cheese
  • herbs: Fresh parsley, dried oregano and basil
  • spicesCrushed red pepper flakes, salt and pepper

The skillet sauce adds a lot of flavor, so definitely don’t miss it. Plus it only has six ingredients and it’s super easy to make. For the sauce you will need:

  • shallot
  • garlic
  • salt
  • dry white wine
  • Chicken broth
  • Lemon

How to serve chicken meatballs

These chicken balls will be delicious over your favorite pasta or rice. You can also serve it on a hoji roll to make a sandwich or with vegetables like roasted asparagus or grilled zucchini. Another idea is to pair the meatballs with an accessory Salad And a piece of crispy bread to absorb the sauce.


  • Use ground turkey instead of ground chicken.
  • Parmesan cheese sub romano.
  • Replace dried oregano or basil with rosemary or thyme.
  • Discard the ground red pepper if you prefer lighter food.
  • If you prefer to cook without wine, replace the wine with more broth.

  • 1 fairy Chopped chicken
  • 2 garlic clovesAnd minced
  • 1 big eggAnd hit lightly
  • ½ cup Seasoned breadcrumbsAnd or gluten-free crumbs
  • cup romano cheese
  • 1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 small spoon dried basil
  • ½ small spoon dried seasoning
  • ½ small spoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • ½ small spoon salt
  • ½ small spoon pepper

Banana sauce

  • 1 shallotAnd cubes
  • 2 garlic clovesAnd minced
  • salt
  • 1/3 cup dry white wineAnd like chardonnay
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 LemonAnd sliced
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • In a bowl, combine minced chicken, garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, cheese, parsley, dried basil, oregano, pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.

  • Mix with clean hands until just blended – don’t over mix.

  • Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs — or just under, about 24.

  • Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

  • Add the meatballs in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches), brown on all sides, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes in total. You don’t need to cook it all because we’re going to put it in the oven – just brown it.

  • Transfer the meatballs to a plate.

  • In the same skillet over medium heat, add the shallots and garlic with a pinch of salt and stir.

  • Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the white wine and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.

  • Let it simmer for two minutes. Add lemon slices and chicken broth.

  • Add the meatballs back to the skillet.

  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked to 165°F.

  • Serve it on sandwiches or with pasta, rice or your favorite vegetables.
