Cinderella’s Oral Roberts race continues after Florida turmoil

Oral Roberts silenced the narrative that it’s a surprise surprise, the Golden Eagles knocked out of Florida, 81-78, on Sunday in dramatic fashion in the second round of the NCAA Men’s Championship to continue Cinderella’s career as No. 15 seed – just two. Days after an amazing nuisance of Ohio’s No. 2. The school that just joined the first division in 2013 is now the second ranked No. 15 (Florida Gulf Coast and the other) to reach its second weekend of March Madness. Ural Roberts (18-10) shot down the No. 7 ranked alligator following the same scheme he used to shock Buckeyes: fueling Max Abmas punch 1-2 (26 points, seven assists) and Kevin Obanauer (28 points) 11 rebounds, 4 steals), The Golden Eagles were superb winning, but was a key player – DeShang Weaver – who drained the three crucial pointers with 2:10 left to give Oral Roberts an 80-78 advantage. Obanor’s free throw with 17 seconds helped seal the victory. Florida led 67-56 with 9:48 left of the match, but felt cold as the Golden Eagles rose. After trailing most of the match and the second half, Obanor gave Oral Roberts his first lead since the first half, with 2:52 left on the end. Florida ends its season disappointing after its best player, Keyontae Johnson, lost to a life-threatening injury again in December. The Gators finished 15-10 in the season. Tri Man led them in a losing attempt with 19 points. Oral Roberts meets Arkansas at Sweet 16 in a match that will be a rematch. The Golden Eagles lost to the Razorbacks earlier in the season by Resolution 87-76 on December 20. Follow college basketball reporter Scott Gleeson on Twitter @ScottMGleeson.
