Corey Sandhagen, the UFC’s bantamide weight, thinks the UFC needs a tangible framework to take out titles from champions who don’t regularly defend them. Sandman’s suggestion was in reference to the recent neck surgery performed by Division Champion Aljamain Sterling which will likely keep him out of competition for the majority of the year. In a recent interview with Fanatics View, Corey Sandhagen talked about Aljamain Sterling’s health and her impact on the title’s bantamweight picture. Sandhagen said that although he has no medical background, he finds it difficult to believe that the protagonist will be able to return within a short period of six months after surgery. The 29-year-old suggested that the UFC needed a framework in place so that the inactive champions could be stripped of the title and the division could move forward. He said, “I don’t really know anything about neck surgeries. But for me it’s hard to believe you can have neck surgery and fight after six months. It feels so intense. So, I don’t know if he’s trying to hold it … I don’t know any.” Medical thing or whether this is something you can recover from in six months’ time or something else. I don’t know … ”“ Honestly, I would like the UFC to show a more realistic way of defining these things. I think that would make things easier where they are, ” “Well, if you are not going to fight again and … you will not defend it with a certain amount of range, then I think it is absolutely fair to vacate it. You have a lot of players in this sport.” Cory Sandhagen’s fight against TJ Dillashaw has been postponed to a later date, who is currently ranked # 2 in the Pantamate Weight Division, was supposed to fight returning champion TJ Dillashaw Corey Sandhaw in the main event of UFC Vegas 26 on May 8. The most likely candidate for the next shooting for the bodyweight title. However, an eye injury forced Delshaw out of the fight. The match will remain the same and be rescheduled to a later date, as Cory Sandhagen, who lost to defending champion Aljamin Sterling at UFC 250 in June 2020, reinvented himself as a dynamic captain since the loss. His last fight was a flying knee knockout victory over future Hall of Famer Frankie Edgar at UFC Vegas 18 in February 2021. Currently riding a winning streak, Cory Sandhagen defeated former title competitor Marlon Moraes via a wheel spinner kick in the October 2020 fight with Edgar.
