Israel’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% in July 2021, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports, above analysts’ consensus of 0.3%. Since the beginning of 2021, the CPI has increased by 2% and over the past 12 months, the CPI has also increased by 1.9%. July saw significant increases in the prices of transportation (1.6%), culture and entertainment (0.9%), and significant declines in the prices of clothes and shoes (4.7%), and fruits and vegetables (0.7%). The housing price index, separate from the consumer price index, continued to rise in the May-June period, compared to April and May, rising 0.6%. Home prices have increased 7.7% over the past 12 months. During May compared to April-May, housing prices in the north increased by 1.5%, prices in the south increased by 1%, and rice prices in central Israel increased by 0.9%. Prices in Haifa increased by 0.6%, prices in Tel Aviv increased by 0.2%, and prices in Jerusalem decreased by 0.3%. Prices in the North increased by 11.6%, prices in Jerusalem increased by 7.2%, prices in Tel Aviv increased by 7.1%, prices in the south increased by 7%, and prices in Haifa increased by 6.8%, in the twelve months prior to May ) – June 2021.
