EgyptAir replaces Sinai Air on the Tel Aviv-Cairo route

With other Arab airlines opening their flights to Israel, EgyptAir “comes out of the closet”, replaces its subsidiary, and triples the number of daily flights. The Egyptian national airline, EgyptAir, applied to operate the Tel Aviv-Cairo flights, and I24News was the first to inform. Representatives of the airlines told “Globus” that EgyptAir officials will come to Israel next week to hold a meeting on this issue. EgyptAir plans to operate 21 flights per week on the Tel Aviv-Cairo route. This is not a new route for EgyptAir, which is affiliated with its affiliate, Sinai Air, which was operating seven weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Cairo, before the Covid-19 crisis, on planes without uniforms, emblems or the Egyptian flag. EgyptAir is now calling for replacing the Air Sinai service and expanding from one to three daily flights. The expected presence of other Arab airlines at Ben Gurion Airport, such as Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air and Royal Air Maroc, in the wake of the Abraham Accords, effectively persuaded EgyptAir to “get out of the treasury.” EgyptAir plans to offer connecting flights to Israelis from its Cairo hub to a wide range of destinations around the world. EgyptAir is a government-owned airline with a fleet of 70 aircraft and belongs to the Star Alliance, the largest global aviation alliance in the world.
