Indianapolis – In an effort to accomplish one of the biggest surprises in NCAA history, the UCLA No. 11 seed came out fearlessly and shot the number one candidate for the National League title Gonzaga. Undefeated Zags received his biggest punch throughout the season from his gritty opponent in an overtime suspense thriller, but Gonzaga’s Galen Sugs scored a three-point win as time ran out for a 93-90 win, and the pre-match story never unfolded. It took a whistling sound to escape from the team the outside world thought. The Bulldogs (31-0) had their biggest test of the season against UCLA, trailing in spurts during a back and forth match, but dug deep and counter-punched with their dynamic attack – to ultimately remain perfect by avoiding Bruins’ bent. A controversial call with one second remaining in the organization saw UCLA star Johnny Guzang – who finished the match with a high of 29 points – driving into the basket and apparently drawing the connection, only to see Gonzaga star Drew Timme charge a fee – forcing overtime. Timmy finished with 25 points, and Gonzaga qualified for the national championship. The Bulldogs, the number 1 seed, Baylor, who has easily dealt with Houston, will face Monday (9 PM ET, CBS) in a highly anticipated match between two great teams. Opinion: Baylor more deadly when three-pointers drop more: Baylor prepares for the first tournament as the rear beat Houston goalkeeper Gonzaga by three points with less than a minute left in overtime to clinch victory before UC’s Jaime Jackies Jr. drains three points. – The pointer 50 seconds before the end of the match and Guzang tied at 90 to form the final epic sequence, and the role player Joel Aye (22 points) was the star of the Gonzaga at this point, while the big three of Zagz – Sujs, Timmy and Korey Kisbert – all presented Major plays to keep UCLA in trouble – hardly any. UCLA maintained the game momentum for most of the first half, but a nasty problem plagued Mick Cronin’s team. Jules Bernard made three fouls, while Tigger Campbell and Jacques Jr. both made two mistakes in the first half. A five-point lead was then quickly erased, with three straight throws drawn by Kisbert and Suges before a jumping Kisbert gave Gonzaga a 45-44 lead before halftime. Pitting Kispert to retreat 56 seconds before the match, he put Gonzaga ahead 81-79 and his triple pointer with a 4:25 pointer left a decisive bucket that gave Zags 75-74 an advantage – and much needed momentum to counter a late Bruins rush, jazz’s rebound pass to Timmy before more Just a minute later she gave the Gonzaga a lead of 79-77, and another big increase. MORE: Why Coach Scott Drew Accepted The Biggest Challenge In Men’s Basketball BRACKETS: NCAA Men’s And Women’s Championship Results, Guzang advanced in the footsteps of the UCLA team that never misses a big score after the big score, while Jaquez and Campbell added 17 points and 16 points, over Straight. Jaquez’s two free throws tied in the final minutes with a score of 81. “UC-LA” shouts echoed across the Lucas Oil stadium and it was clear that the team many had expected to roll was not about to let that happen. Cronin’s arrival at the Final Four was a sign that the Blue Blood program is back, and that many of these NCAA stars will return in 2021-22. Before the match, Cronin said the best way for UCLA to surprise was by scoring – which they did – and not turning the ball. They have won every match this season the Bruins has made less than 10 turnovers. Until Saturday, when they had only nine.
