since then Huawei lost access to Google Mobile services (GMS) a couple of years ago, each new phone launch of it came with a question: “Will I still be able to use all of my favorite apps?”
It’s a legitimate concern, considering that the now unavailable Google Play Store is the gateway to all Android phone apps.
However, the Chinese tech giant is working hard to come up with a solution, both in its own form AppGallery And alternative methods that take advantage of the open source nature of Android.
In our region Previous videoIn, we mentioned that Huawei has been constantly adding frequently used apps to its catalog, which covers categories like Banking (UOB), Navigation (Waze), News (The Straits Times), and Shopping (Lazada).
Since then, many others New applications On board, like DBS / POSB, Standard Chartered, Foodpanda and Telegram, to name a few.
Huawei users will be happy to know that the Grab app is now also available on AppGallery so you can book your trips or order food delivery with ease.
Previously, users had to do this Side load Grab app on Huawei. The drawback is that its map feature doesn’t work well because it uses Google Maps.

The Grab app now works with OpenStreetMap, which allows its map feature to work normally, so that users can enjoy a better app experience.
When asked if they have any other native apps in their AppGallery suite, a Huawei spokesperson revealed that SingPass is in the final development stages and will be available “during the first half of this year”.
Although you still can’t get every app on AppGallery at this point, it’s really a matter of time before Huawei comes up with a workaround.
The important thing is that you can actually have the majority of your most used apps on Huawei, so if you are thinking of getting a new Huawei phone, don’t let the lack of GMS deter you.
