Israeli telehealth company Antidote Health announced today the completion of a $12 million seed funding round led by iAngels, Well-Tech Ventures and Flint Capital, along with other angel investors. Antidote Health is a B2C company launched in January that provides uninsured Americans with HMO insurance virtually via artificial intelligence (AI) that connects users with doctors using an intelligent chatbot and through video calls. Antidote Health chose the HMO model based on the belief that it was the right way to correct the prevalent problem of access to health care in the US market – with more than 38 million uninsured Americans. By offering a more direct approach to healthcare, Antidote is able to provide high-quality health coverage to individuals for as little as $29 per month, making it an accessible alternative to millions of individuals and families. Antidote Health was founded by CEO Avihai Sodry, Karen Bell Feder, Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Zlotnik, and Chairman and President Ben Enoch who co-founded Cyota with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Michel Tzur, and Lior Golan, Sodry said, “ Healthcare in the United States presents us with a great opportunity – both economically and morally. Making medical services available to millions of people is an enormous task.” The convergence of two disciplines – virtual healthcare based on artificial intelligence and advanced technology (insurance technology) The application layers are unique in the medical tech landscape In that it provides disruptive force in the market. The incorporation of advanced technologies and the social impact that Antidote results in is part of our organizational DNA and is evident in every action we take. iAngels co-founder Shelley Hood Moyal said, “If there is any one industry in which COVID-19 has highlighted key gaps and necessary progress, it is the need for access to telehealth. In the wake of a global pandemic, and as an Israeli who can take access to national healthcare for granted, it is astonishing that as many as 1 in 4 Americans do not have access to equitable and affordable healthcare. We are proud to lead Antidote Health’s funding round, and play a part in their journey to level the playing field for all Americans to receive appropriate telemedicine. Israel is not only a leading country in digital health, but in technology as a whole, as evidenced by the record-breaking year we are witnessing. This expertise and ability to simplify operations along with financial technology advancements that allow for palm-of-your-hand payments have paved the way for Antidote Health’s solution to an age-old problem. “The company launched a 24/7 virtual primary and acute care service across New York, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina beginning January 2021. Antidote plans to expand to more states through 2022, providing affordable, high-quality health care services to individuals and families.
