Jake Paul knocked Ben Askrin in the first round of the highly anticipated boxing match Saturday night in Atlanta, and Paul, who is popular on YouTube and social media, had contact with his right hand that sent a sprawling scrappy to the canvas of Mercedes Benz stadium. Askrin, a retired mixed martial arts fighter, reached his feet and took the mandatory eight. But the referee called off the fight at 1:59 in the first round, and Askrin’s referee was not in a state of continuation even though Askrin indicated he wanted to continue. Paul improved to 3-0 with three knockouts. White said he’d bet a million dollars that Paul would lose it to Askrin, and Paul, 24, was entering his third battle as a professional. He was beaten by YouTuber AnEsonGib in 2019 by TKO in his professional debut, then knocked out of the NBA superstar Nate Robinson in his second fight, and Ascrin, 36, had his boxing debut. Aged 19-2 as a mixed martial arts fighter and was a Division I wrestling champion twice before the fight, Paul had hoped to eventually fight Conor McGregor or Floyd Mayweather. But there is definitely no telling about who he might encounter next.
