TOKYO — Jennifer Valenti won the gold in the Women’s Omnium, her second at the Tokyo Olympics, and Valenti won the bronze on Tuesday in the team pursuit. She was a silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, also in the team pursuit, the first US gold in the world, after Sarah Hammer won silver in both Rio and London, and Valente finished with 124 points on Sunday, winning 14. Japan’s Yumi Kajihara, the world’s world champion, took the silver despite crashing late in the points race, the finale of the four-race series. Dutch Kristen Wilde won the bronze, creating an important ground in the points race. MEDAL COUNT: A complete list of every medal for Team USA at the Summer Games Valente earned a maximum of 40 points in the first race, zero, which awards points according to the rider’s finish. Her results in the next two races – cadence and elimination – were enough to keep her ahead of Kajihara heading into the points race. In an 80-lap race, points are awarded after every 10 laps to the top four riders. Points double in the last race, Valente won the first, earned five points and continued her lead over Kajihara. She added three more in the third race and six in the last, for a total of 14. Kajihara only added two points in the points race, but that was enough because Wilde trailed her by 18 in the last race.
