The National Basketball Association has not yet finalized all the details regarding the 2021 All-Star Game, but we do know how the voting process will take place. Ahead of this year’s All-Star Celebrations, which are said to take place on March 7 in Atlanta, the league released a second round of fan vote results. Some of the big names are unsurprisingly at the top of the lists, but there are some that open our eyes on the leaderboards. More: LeBron has a ‘Zero Thrill’ for 2021 in the All-Star Game, Kevin Durant and LeBron James emerged as the top vote-seekers at the East and West conferences, respectively, receiving more than 4 million votes each. Trae Young, who ranked # 1 among East Rangers in last year’s earnings, didn’t even break the top five at his spot. Then there’s the strange case of Clay Thompson, the # 8 goalkeeper in the West despite missing this season due to an Achilles tendon injury. You can see the latest results below before the 2021 All-Star Break. All-star voting working? Fan vote represents 50 percent of the total vote to mark the start of the NBA All-Star Game. Current players and members of the media divide the remaining 50 percent. Each ballot consists of two guards and three front yard players from each conference. Reserve coaches are chosen by the NBA coaches, League Commissioner Adam Silver selects injury substitutes if needed, and then All-Star leaders form their teams from the pool of qualified players (beginners in the first round and reserve in the second round). The Captains will be selected based on the players who receive the most fan votes at each conference. They are not required to draft based on affiliation with the conference or position.
