2021 Pebble Beach Pro-Am is ready to speak in Pebble Beach, California, this weekend – with a noticeable lack of usual star power. The COVID-19 pandemic makes it impossible for hobbyists or celebrities to compete – the first time in the event’s 75-year history. The world’s best golfers, such as Dustin Johnson, John Ram, Justin Thomas or Xander Shavili, will not be playing in the event. This is not to say that there is not much of a good golf to enjoy. This week’s competition, which has 156 participants, will be split between Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill courses; Due to the pandemic, the course of the Monterey Peninsula was cut short from the event. Another change includes the weekend cut, which will take place after 36 holes instead of the usual 54. How the lack of hobbyists affects course planning, but their absence likely leads to a more drastically organized course.
