Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert named NBA Defensive Player of the Year 2020-21, and Philadelphia 76er Ben Simmons headed the All-NBA First Team for 2020-21, the league announced Monday. He votes on every 100 cards until you end up with 200 points each. Joining Gobert and Simmons in the NBA All-Defensive First Team are Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (176 points; 80 first team votes), Milwaukee guard Bucks Jrue Holiday (157 points; 65 first team votes) and fellow striker Giannis Antetokounmpo ( 135 points; 43 votes for the first team). Gobert, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the third time in the past four seasons, was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the fifth consecutive season. This marks Simmons’ second consecutive first-team pick, and the runner-up for the best defensive player in the NBA this season. Holiday is a first-team honor for the second time, while Antetokounmpo, the 2019-20 NBA Most Valuable Defensive Player and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, has earned the NBA First Team selection for the third time in a row. The second defensive squad for 2020-2021 consists of Miami Heat striker Pam Adebayo (111 points), goalkeeper Jimmy Butler (111), 76ers player Joel Embiid (87), goalkeeper Matis Thiebol (63) and Los Angeles Clippers forward Kowhi Leonard. (43). Leonard was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team (first team and second team) for the seventh time. It is the fifth NBA All-Defensive Team pick for Butler, the third for Embiid and the second for Adebayo.
