Randy Orton recently spoke about how Vince McMahon was unhappy with The Undertaker after Orton’s match with The Phenom back in 2002, and at the Broken Skull Sessions, Randy Orton and Stone Cold Steve Austin discussed the first match with The Deadman in WWE, which happened in 2002 on an episode of SmackDown. In that match, The Undertaker made Orton, a rookie at that point in his WWE career, look great in the ring despite The Deadman winning the match. Vince McMahon wasn’t happy with making The Undertaker a young and unknown wrestler like Orton look so good in the ring. “(The Undertaker) insulted me a lot, humiliated me a lot. After the match, we went back to Gorilla (the position) and Vince (McMahon) gave him bad things, are you doing there? What are you doing? Arm pulls, hip swings, backrests Two pieces, double bump, come up. So Taker says something along the lines of, “Full circle, man. That’s what we do. Isn’t that what we’re trying to do here? Get guys. I just remember sitting there – I wasn’t a part.” From conversation but I’m a fly on the wall and I just remember thinking, like, ‘Wow!’ Randy Orton said that all of his attack against The Undertaker was knocked out because it was a recorded SmackDown Show, but he mentioned that he was happy with the match at that point. Randy Orton on why The Undertaker chose to wrestle with him, Randy Orton, in his interview with Austin, said The Undertaker saw something on the way back in 2002 and had a match with him. “Well, the position I was in that night, to work with him (The Undertaker) – again, the common denominator throughout this interview is how lucky and blessed I was. For whatever reason, he saw something inside of me. And that was before any of the Evolution elements, This was before I liked Triple H and Ric Flair. This was seeing something inside of me and he had something to do to be in the ring with me that night Three years later at WrestleMania 21, the two faced each other for a second time. However, Orton was not a star.
