Vincent Jackson, former NFL recipient, was found dead Monday morning in Florida. “My heart hurts for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson left behind, from his wife and children to the pirate country that loved him,” said Chad Kronister, Hillsboro County Sheriff, in a statement. “Mr. Jackson was a loyal man who placed his family and his community above everything else. Aside from football, he touched countless lives through the Jackson In Action 83” foundation. We shared a passion for supporting military families, and three years ago, Jackson was even named Honorary Deputy by the Hillsborough County Mayor’s Office in recognition of his dedication to community service. He will be sorely missed by not only football fans across the country, but also people here in Hillsborough County who reaped the benefits of his generous contributions. According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson was discovered around 11:30 a.m. ET at Homewood Suites in Brandon, Florida, by a housekeeper. He had checked into the hotel, which is located a few miles from his home in South Tampa, in January 11. On February 10, his family reported his missing and an official letter was submitted the next day. Jackson was located at the hotel on February 12, and the missing person’s case was canceled.
