Daytona weather may play a big role in the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday. NASCAR is back and while fans look to see their favorite drivers race, weather may interfere with these plans. The weather in Daytona has already been a factor during Speedwicks. The second qualifying fencing race in Daytona had to be postponed by an hour and a half due to rain, forcing NASCAR to start the race at 11:30 PM EST. Unfortunately for NASCAR, Daytona’s weather can end up much worse, starting with the Global Camping Truck Series on Friday. While the race is expected to start at 7:30 p.m., the National Weather Service expects 60% of rain to fall by 7:30. That goes up to 80% at 8 pm, and running the truck chain race the next day shouldn’t be a big deal, especially since those teams are off next week, but what about the NASCAR Xfinity series race? Daytona weather could affect that, too; There is a 50% chance of rain until 6 pm on a Saturday. What is the weather forecast in Daytona for Sunday? While the Xfinity series might be racing on Saturday night, Daytona’s Sunday weather is where things take a very tense turn. The Daytona 500 is set to start at 2:30 pm EST, but faces an 86% chance of rain in the first hour. Daytona’s weather will slowly decrease to around 50% as evening goes on and going to race will depend on how well NASCAR maintains the track. This means that Air Titans will have a large presence during NASCAR’s biggest races and this could lead to multiple delays or postponements, and NASCAR’s best bet may be to run the race on Monday. It won’t be a popular decision for fans who work out on Mondays, but it will allow the race to be completed. Ultimately, it’s no surprise for NASCAR fans to ruin the fun weather, but an entire weekend of rain delay isn’t exactly something we look forward to at the start of the 2021 season.
