In the past year, since we had several dinners as a family, we started a long-standing tradition of rose, thorn, bud. Want to play it? Here’s how it works …
Basically, everyone walks around and shares a rose (something positive that happened that day), a thorn (something negative that happened that day) and a bud (something they were looking forward to).
Conversational starter works much better than the vague question, “How was your day?” Once you’ve read your little one’s question about his busy day at school is like asking an adult, “How have you been the last 20 years of your life?”
I’d love to hear about boys’ ups, like New crush Or the dread of a science project (although Anton often says his rose is “screen time,” groan). Also, it’s nice to share my buddies, although I’m always like mom â„¢: “My rose hangs out with you guys !!!!!!”
And therefore! On this spring afternoon, I would like to ask you: What are the rose, thorn and bud in your life now? In general, what makes you happy, worries, and looks forward to? I’m glad to hear that. xo
