Jake Paul is set to swap strikes with former MMA champ, Ben Askren, on April 17, 2021. He will face ex-UFC fighter Jake Paul in an 8-round boxing match under the banner of Triller Fight Club. According to Triller founder Ryan Kavanagh, the match will be contested with 10-ounce gloves in the 20 x 20 ring, and this will be Jake Paul’s first match against someone with a true background in combat sports. Ben Askren is a two-time NCAA wrestling champion, twice winning the Dan Hodge Cup, the 2008 Olympics, a former Pilator champion and one lightweight champion. While Asker started his career with a perfect 19-0 record, he is perhaps best remembered for losing Jorge Masvidal in 5 seconds. Askren retired from sports last year after requiring hip replacement surgery, which he successfully underwent in August. His last UFC trip was a submission loss to Damien Maya. Although ‘Funky’ has a lot of fighting experience to his credit, the match against Jake Paul would mark his debut in professional boxing, on the other hand, Jake Paul made his professional debut last year against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib. Paul won the match in the first round via TKO. He followed this with a knockout in the second round of former NBA player Nate Robinson on his next tour. Reportedly, as Jake Paul took Masvidal’s aid, Jake Paul relocated to Miami where in South Florida there is a variety of fighters who could help him prepare for Ben Screenin. One of the fighters Paul cares about is Jorge Masvidal who holds KO Ben Ascreen for 5 seconds the UFC scoring for the fastest knockout. According to Jake Ball, Masvidal instructs him on how to get Ben Asrin out faster. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Paul told Mike Boone: “He (Masvidal) said, ‘Look, Ben will try to hold on to you and wrestle with you and wrestle you and try to tire you. We were just working on the final training and fighting insider, and he was trying to show me how to hit Ben faster than he did. So, we’ll see what happens. I might go jogging at Ben in the first two seconds to try to smash (Masvidal’s record). But Masvidal is great. It supports a lot. He has always been my friend and supporter, and that goes both ways. I’m excited to see if I can defeat Ben faster than Masvidal. ”Posted on March 15, 2021, 18:23 IST Login / Signup to respond.
